Affordable Wheelchair & Mobility Aid Hire

Wheeleasy Mobility is a non profit short term hire service based in Maidstone, Kent. We are run by volunteers that have experience and knowledge of issuing equipment that will fit an individual's needs. We offer equipment on a weekly hire basis manual wheelchairs and toileting aids. In addition we will have a selection of preloved equipment to purchase which thanks to the public donating to us, we are able to pass on for those requiring a more permanent solution.

Wheelchair hire from just £22 per week

The wheelchairs are suitable for anyone over the age of 5 and are available in a wide range of sizes with foot rests fitted as standard. Accessories such as leg elevators, cushions, and stump supports are available for an additional £1 per week hire.

  • Self propelling wheelchairs (13" 15" 18" 22" 24")
  • Transit wheelchairs (same sizes as above)
  • Leg elevators (left and right)
  • Stump supports
  • Cushions (small medium large)

Toileting items from just £11 per week

These aids include a commode where the pot is purchased for £5 and non-returnable. Adjustable toilet frames for both width and height. Toilet seat raisers in sizes 2" 4" 6"

Choosing the right equipment

We offer different types of wheelchairs and toileting aids with a selection of accessories. Understanding the type of equipment your require is important to know before making a hire enquiry.

Self propelled wheelchair

This will enable someone to wheel themselves as well as being pushed. Features larger rear wheels, which makes for slightly bulkier product and doorways and openings should be considered.

Transit wheelchair

This is designed to be pushed by someone else. These are typically more lightweight and have smaller wheels.

Choosing the correct size of wheelchair

We suggest measuring across your widest part when seated. A helpful tip is you could also measure a seat in your home that fits well to reassure yourself of correct chair width.

13 or 15 inch are classed as suitable for a child or small adult and will take anyone up to 10 stone (63 Kilos).

18 inch will suit anyone between 10 stone (63 kilos) to 19 stone (120 kilos).

22 and 24 inch are best suited for individuals over 19 stone (120 kilos) and up to 25 stone (159 kilos).

Caring for your equipment

All wheelchairs are cleaned and safety checked between each hire, but it’s still important to regularly check your equipment for any signs of damage. Here are a few tips on how to clean and take care of your wheelchair and other aids.

We service Maidstone and the surrounding areas. Collection and drop of all equipment is from Hermitage court, near the Maidstone hospital and junction 5 of the M20.
